Do not frequently wash with water. Although thick leather can be water-resistant it will soak up water which can deteriorate the product.
Clean the leather product with special leather care products. Tip: Amazon has dozens of product in this category.
It is best to treat the leather two to three times a year. The treatment includes cleaning so that the leather gets clean and slim and then applying a special cleaning tool to feed and protect the leather.
